  2. Push the RESET button located in the driver's side instrument panel fuse block.

  3. The CHANGE OIL light will start to flash.

  4. Press and release the RESET button again. The CHANGE OIL light will go off, and the LOW TIRE PRESSURE light will start to flash.

  5. Press and hold the RESET button again until the chimes sound. If the LOW TIRE PRESSURE light does not go off, then see your dealer for service.

CALIBRATION

The system normally takes 15 to 20 minutes of driving in each of three speed ranges to "learn" tire pressures. The speed ranges are: 15 to 40 mph, 40 to 65 mpg, and above 65 mph. When learning is complete, the system will alert you after 2-8 minutes if a tire is 12 psi different from the other three tires. Detection thresholds may be higher and detection times longer on rough roads, curves and high speeds. The system is not capable of detection at speeds greater than 75 mph.

There are 2 ways to reset the TIM system.

Important:  Clearing the ABS DTCs will not reset the TPM system.

TIM Reset Using the DIC

If the TPM system does not reset or DTC C1245 remains current, refer to Diagnostic System Check-Tire Pressure Monitoring.

  1. Set all tires to the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

  2. Start the engine.

  3. Press the SELECT buttons on the DIC to scroll until GAGE PAGE is displayed in the DIC.

  4. Press the SELECT buttons on the DIC within the GAGE PAGE display until the TIRE PRESSURE LOW message is displayed on the DIC.

  5. Press and hold the DIC RESET button on the DIC until the TIRE PRESSURE RESET message is displayed on the DIC.

  6. Release the button.

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the ABS DTCs.

TPM Reset Using the Scan Tool

If the TPM system does not reset or DTC C1245 remains current, refer to Diagnostic System Check-Tire Pressure Monitoring.

  1. Set all tires to the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

  2. Install a scan tool.

  3. Start the engine.

  4. With the scan tool, perform the Tire Pressure Reset in the DRP/ABS/TCS/TIM/VSES (if equipped) Special Functions.

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the ABS DTCs.

Whenever a tire pressure is changed, (tire rotation, tire replacement, spare tire, etc..) perform the Reset Procedure. Whenever the battery is disconnected, perform the Reset Procedure.

Do not perform the RESET procedure without first correcting the cause of the malfunction and checking and adjusting the pressure in all 4 tires. If you press the button when the tire pressures are incorrect, the Tire Inflation Monitoring system will not work properly and may not alert the driver when a tire is low.

  1. Set all tires to the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, engine OFF.

  3. Press the RESET button and release. The CHANGE OIL indicator will start flashing.

  4. Press and release the RESET button again. The CHANGE OIL indicator will turn OFF and the LOW TIRE PRESSURE indicator will start flashing.

  5. While the LOW TIRE PRESSURE indicator is flashing, press and hold the RESET button until the chime sounds.

The system completes the procedure by going through a relearn process while the customer drives the vehicle.

It takes 15 to 20 minutes to learn tire pressures in each of 3 speed ranges (15-40 MPH, 40-65 MPH, above 65 MPH). After about 60 minutes of driving across all speed ranges, the system will alert the driver if a tire is 12 psi different from the other 3 tires for 2-8 minutes.

Detection thresholds may be higher and detection times may be longer on rough roads, curves and at high speeds. The system is not capable of detection at speeds greater than 75 MPH.

Important:  After resetting, the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system requires up to 30 minutes of straight line driving in each of the 3 speed ranges to complete the calibration process, for further information, refer to Tire Pressure Monitor Description and Operation. If the TPM system does not reset, refer to Low Tire Pressure Indicator Does Not Reset. If DTC C1245 remains current, refer to Diagnostic System Check - Tire Pressure Monitoring.

USING THE RESET BUTTON

  1. Adjust the tire pressures to the recommended kPa/psi. Refer to Tire Placard.

  2. Turn "ON" the ignition, with the engine "OFF".

  3. Press and release the "RESET" button located in the drivers side Instrument Panel fuse block. The "CHANGE OIL" indicator will begin to flash.

  4. Press and release the "RESET" button again. The "CHANGE OIL" indicator will turn off, and the "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" indicator begins to flash.

  5. Press and hold the "RESET" button until the chime sounds and the "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" indicator turns off.

  6. Use the scan tool in order to clear the TPM DTC.

RESET CHECK TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM

Don't reset the check tire pressure system without first correcting the cause of the problem and checking and adjusting the pressure in all four tires. If you reset the system when the tire pressures are incorrect, the check tire pressure system will not work properly and may not alert you when a tire is low or high.

To reset (calibrate) the system:

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

  2. Press the SELECT right arrow on the Driver Information Center (DIC) until you enter the GAGE mode. Then press the SELECT down arrow until TIRE PRESSURE appears on the display.

  3. Press and hold the DIC RESET button for about five seconds. After five seconds, the display will show "TIRE PRESSURE RESET". If "TIRE PRESSURE RESET" does not appear on the display after about five seconds, see your dealer for service. After you release the DIC RESET button, "TIRE PRESSURE NORMAL" will appear on DIC display.

The system completes the calibration process during driving. Calibration time can take 45 to 90 minutes, depending on your driving habits. After the system has been calibrated, the system will alert the driver that a tire is low, up to a maximum speed of 65 mph (105 km/h).
